Worgen Leveling Guide

The worgen mount issue has been a hot topic since the announcement of the two new races before Cataclysm was released. Much speculation was going on what the mount would be and how it would look like.

Then the mystery got a epilogue and we found out that worgens would not have mounts but instead a racial ability – Running Wild.

Now in the upcoming patch 4.3 worgen will also be getting their long aclaimed mounts – horses.

To be honest it was a bit of a disappointment for me as I really don’t see a worgen riding a horse as its racial mount.

I think Blizzard missed a great opportunity of making a really cool looking mount for our worgen race.

Blizzard did state the Running wild is still the worgens official race mount and that the horses will be added mainly to even out the number of mounts obtainable by the Horde and the Alliance.

For all the non-worgen mount collectors that is indeed great news and now is the time to grind your Gilneas reputation(if you area already not exhalted) using various means like the Gilneas tabard in instances and doing quests that give you alliance reputation.

That’s right, worgen druids will have a new Swift Flight form model in patch 4.0.6. It has been confirmed by Zarhym in a Blue Poster. As for the look of the new flight model we can only guess as it will be applied directly to the new patch and is currently not available on the PTR. I hope they will make it a cool model. Trolls will also get a new Swift Flight Form model. On the other hand there are no current plans on updating the tauren and night elf Swift Flight form models. I’ll be posting the pictures as soon as they come out.

Leveling your worgen will be a great new experience. as the story unfolds in front of your eyes, you will get pulled into the lore of the Worgen race.

To make your leveling faster and more enjoyable, here are some leveling tips that you might find useful:

1. Think of a name (or a few names if one is already taken…) for your Worgen and also what class you want to level.
This way you will spend less time creating your character. Remember that hair style and color can be changed by visiting a barber shop in the future.

2. If you have heirlooms post them right away to your new Worgen toon.
This will make leveling faster as the shoulders and chest items combined make your leveling 20% faster. Heirloom weapons(with the right enchant like Crusader or Lifestealing) also make you have less downtime, but do get the chest and shoulders first.

3. Join a guild (possibly a social leveling one) as soon as possible.
This way you will start getting guild reputation that will allow you to usufruit of all the guild perks like Fast Track (5,10% increase experience), Mount Up (10% increased mount speed and Hasty Heart (Reduces heartstone cooldown by 15 minutes). you will also be able to find a group faster and lets face it leveling in a guild is loads of fun!

4. Provide your new worgen with all the pots, food and scrolls that will speed up the leveling.
You can buy elixirs and health/mana potions on the Auction house or make them yourself. Food at low levels gives a stamina and spirit buff so be sure to be well fed all the time. Scrolls also provide you with a buff to your major stat so buy/make them for your toon. Most of these items will be cheap as a lot of players will be power-leveling their new characters so check the Auction house frequently.

5. Get the right Glyphs.
As soon as you ht level 25 you can get your first set of 3 glyphs. The major glyphs are mostly the important ones, as they give a boost to your damage so be sure to get at least those, but I would recommend you get all three.

6. Use a Leveling Guide.
A good leveling guide can help you a lot in managing your time and showing you which quests are too low or too high for you, especially now with the new zones and most of the old ones totally revamped. Dugi’s new 1-85 leveling guide is such a guide, update for Cataclysm and also covers all the worgen starting area quests. I recommend you check it out. In a less than 12/21 hours, Cataclysm will go live all over the world!

Thousands of  Worgens will be overrunning Gilneas and all players will get a chance to finally make a worgen character. Many will not get a lot of sleep for the next few days and coffee and energy drinks will be drunk in large quantities.

So make sure you are prepared and get enough sleep, food and rehydrate yourself.

With World of Warcraft’s newest expansion – Cataclysm going live next week, I thought it would be a good idea to share some great tips to get you prepared for this event.

First of all you should empty your bags of all unnecessary stuff. I do recommend you leave some pots (health/mana) and some elixirs . Also gets some good food and scrolls so you will be full buffed and leveling will be faster. Also remember that the old heirlooms don’t work beyond level 80.

As many of you already know doing daily quests and handing them in when Cataclysm goes live will give you about 40% experience to level 81. This will make your leveling faster , so be sure to take some time and do all the 25 quests that can be in your quest log.

The last thing to remember is to make your home at one of the major cities (Stormwind or Origmar, depending on your faction…) as they will become the main hubs for the Horde and Alliance. This way you will also be able to learn Azerothian flying and will be able to train your professions if you so desire.

The new patch in Cataclysm beta has updated the broken worgen “mount” running wild. Now you can get on all fours and run around looking for trees and sniffing peoples behinds . It’s still not a 100% done but it gives the main idea. Check it out!

Blizzcon 2010 is over and it was a bit disappointing. I did like the way they are going to nip and tuck the old dungeons. There were no major announcements, those who follow beta videos or are on the beta had already seen most of the Cataclysm stuff and not much on the worgen. Just a bit of lore in this video:

With the new build in Cataclysm Beta you can now see and make a worgen female character. The character creation screen still is a little buggy and there will be some changes added later but you can get a good idea of how worgen females are going to look like.
